Our Journey so far
Pūtahi Innovations Limited has come a long way from its initial inception four years ago. Through the many challenges we remain true to our purpose and values.
The Birth of Pūtahi Innovations Limited
My entrepreneurial journey started during my studies. I have worked on several startup ideas, the first being a smartphone app. I founded Pūtahi Innovations Limited in 2019, giving me the flexibility to realise my ideas and to support others. Pūtahi Innovations Limited is the meeting place where ideas can flourish.
The Creation of Cheap Kai
In 2017, I attended a Techstars Startup Weekend and pitched a grocery app idea. The app would compare the cheapest priced items on your grocery list. We called it Cheap Kai (Food). Cheap Kai uses crowd sourced data to update prices. This created a digital community of like-minded shoppers. I enlisted the services of Little Monkey in 2019, a small web/app developer based in Wellington. We have a working prototype which won the Good Food Boost Mentoring Programme in 2020.
Recently, Cheap Kai joined the Regional Food Network, Lower Hutt. This network supports community based initiatives such as Kai Security and Kai Sovereignty. Wellington Regional Council and Wellington District Health supports and guides the network.
Our Next Steps
We continue to explore ideas and entrepreneurial endeavors through the development of new and interesting products and services.
Mentoring Support
We have joined the New Zealand Business Mentors network and the Rebel Business Aotearoa Āwhina Program. We mentor business startups and small businesses. We also offer this service outside of these areas.
Paahau Stationery
This passion project draws on my creative and teaching experience. I am also a huge fan of great stationery. We will start with digital resources to support the various needs of entrepreneurs. These will include calendars and charts. We will move to physical products near the end of 2023.
On the Horizon
As I move out of my current role with Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington, I am broadening scope of the products and service Pūtahi Innovations Limited could offer individuals, businesses and organisations.
Consultation Service
I have over 10 years experience advising and consulting with organisations on te ao Māori (the Māori worldview). This includes te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, mātauranga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We offer te ao Māori consultation to businesses and organisations.
Facilitation Service
I have over 20 years experience in group facilitation. We have competitive prices to facilitate your organisations workshops. We also offer workshops to businesses and organisations who wish to explore te ao Māori.
Online Courses
Our online courses offer an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and organisations to explore te ao Māori. We also offer a service to create a learning programme that is bespoke to you and your groups needs.
